Save Money by Having Less Coffee

For most of us a cup of strong espresso is the only way to
begin the day. It is not only enjoyable but irresistible.
The Americans are particularly addicted to this drink.
Almost 79 percent of people over eighteen drink at least
one cup of coffee everyday. Needless to say, coffee houses
are doing a roaring business. You see them emerging on
every turn and corner. The advertisements for coffee
overshadow other things in the market. But have you ever
paused to think what an expensive affair this coffee is? If
you sit down to calculate how much you spend on coffee you
might have second thoughts about your favorite drink.
It is estimated that nearly 110 million Americans drink
coffee every day. Since 1999, the size of coffee mugs has
increased considerably and so have the contents, in the
same measure. No wonder coffee houses keep popping up all
over the country. So much so that the gas stations and fast
food joints have also taken the opportunity to sell coffee.
As the demand goes on increasing the suppliers compete with
each other to flood the market with their product.
The demand of coffee has risen so much that many
suppliers are finding it hard to cope up with it!
Apparently, many coffee shops are also
making lots of money because of such a high demand. One
great example is Starbucks, a leading chain of coffee
shops. They have zeroed in on the demand and made huge
profits. In 2004, they recorded a whopping profit of 70
million dollars for the fourth quarter. This is a lucrative
business indeed!
If you estimate a small espresso in your favorite coffee
shop runs approximately two and a half dollars, your coffee
fix for only five days out of a week quickly shoots up to
twelve and a half dollars. Quite rapidly, your cup of
espresso skyrockets to a whopping $625 per year assuming
you only purchase coffee five days a week. If you drink
coffee every day for a year, your daily espresso fix totals
a phenomenal $910. And that cost is only for one person.
If your significant other enjoys a daily cup of joe, double
that cost and soon you are racking up almost $2,000 a year
on coffee alone.
If that seems like an eye-popping amount
for one beverage a day, it is! Take an honest look at your
budget and see if there is room for this costly fix. Maybe
there are other things on which you would rather spend your
hard earned money. Perhaps you have been itching to take a
vacation but just cannot seem to come up with the funds.
Maybe you need to start saving for your child~s college
fund or your own retirement fund. Are you willing to
exchange coffee for your future?
If coffee is a luxury you don't want to let go, then
consider other options, such as cutting it down gradually
or switching over to a cheaper brand. If espresso is all
you want then think of investing in a coffee machine. You
will get your professional cup of coffee at an affordable
cost. Whichever way you reduce your expenditure on coffee
you will certainly have a sense of satisfaction at the end
of the day. All it takes is a bit of determination to curb
your craving for coffee.
